While it’s fun to make big, bold predictions, any marketer who’s lived through the last decade knows that forecasting marketing’s future is risky business. After all, just over 10 years ago Mark Zuckerberg was still fine-tuning Facebook in his Harvard dorm room. To summarize: none of us are perfect prognosticators. Truth is, a big part of our future will be defined by technologies and trends that aren’t even on our radar right now.

The Australian Marketing Institute has attracted some of Australia’s finest marketing minds to share their thoughts on the marketing trends they think will define 2019 and re-shape how we approach the future. The Marketing 2019 & Beyond series is an opportunity to gain valuable insider knowledge from some of the industry’s most experienced and engaging thought leaders. Our expert panel will discuss future marketing trends across 6 key areas: Content Marketing, Creative Marketing, Digital Marketing, Customer Experience, Data Driven Marketing and Career Management.

Panellists include thought leaders such as Rhonda Chapman, Marketing Communicator; Rene LeMerle, Head of Marketing at Bonfire and Stephanie Meek, University Lecturer at Edith Cowan University.

Rhonda Chapman

Founder, Rhonda Chapman Marketing Communicator

Rhonda is a marketing communications specialist with more than 15 years’ experience in media, marketing and public relations. She started her career as a broadcast news journalist and documentary producer at the Seychelles Broadcasting Corporation. She further developed her communications and marketing skills through a variety of roles with organisations such as Richmond Wellbeing and the WA Local Government Association. Rhonda is now applying those skills to help smaller brands make smarter marketing decisions, particularly when it comes to copywriting for customer attraction and retention, and getting free publicity.

Rene LeMerle

Head of Marketing, Bonfire

With a background focused on data-driven and digital marketing, Bonfire's award-winning Head of Marketing, Rene LeMerle, has been immersed in the digital landscape since 1997, and is passionate about helping companies embrace digital marketing and innovative technologies to evolve their business. His remit includes Bonfire's brand management, strategic planning and execution of the agency’s marketing activities. He’s also a key driver of digital innovation across the company and the offerings it delivers to its clients.

Rene is also heavily focused on contributing to the marketing community, with several engagements as a committee member, speaker, lecturer, panellist and contributing writer for industry publications. He's also been selected to judge several industry awards and was recently awarded CMO of the Year by the AMI.

Stephanie Meek

University Lecturer, Edith Cowan University

Stephanie Meek is a Lecturer in the field of Marketing and Business Research in the School of Business and Law, at Edith Cowan University, Perth, Western Australia. Her teaching areas of expertise include International Marketing, Retail Marketing, Business Research Practices, Digital Marketing and Business Analytics. Her research interests include interactive internet based consumer behaviour, data driven marketing, brand engagement, and building brand equity in an online environment. Stephanie has comprehensive industry experience in management, marketing and advertising. Dr Meek received her PhD in Marketing from ECU, Perth Western Australia.

Meredith Simpson

Senior Business Director, Metrix Consulting

From developing marketing strategies through to helping the CSIRO predict the future of biosecurity for Australia, Meredith’s diverse career spans both sides of the country and a number of sectors. She’s worked with local SMEs all the way through to some of the biggest brands in Australia, including Cricket Australia, Woolworths, Heinz and the Australian Defence Force. Meredith specialises in translating insights into strategies that drive business results – results that have been recognised several times at the Australian Effie Awards. These days, Meredith is Senior Business Director at Metrix Consulting – a national strategy and insights consultancy headquartered in West Perth.
